Music is one of the most beautiful parts of life, everything’s better with some music on. It’s a rich field. My closest connection with music is the percussion aspect of it. As a kid I used to find these pots and pans and in my little world, I was in my own band. I could spend time by myself for hours together creating my own music. Rhythm was close to me and at the age of 13-14 years, I took interest in the Tabla and learnt it sincerely from a dedicated teacher. I lost touch with tabla but the rhythm has remained with me. I keep going back to percussion when I can. I’m learning some African djembe currently and drum circles is something I’ve used in my sessions at corporate too. When music is produced together, it can have a very positive effect on everyone involved. It’s the principle ‘the sum is greater than the individual parts’ comes to life.
My home has housed several instruments over the years and I’ve been lucky to be in the company of some truly great musicians. We jammed for hours and created music spontaneously, it wasn’t music as is known- we were creating music and instruments as we went along, there were no rules, conventions restricting us- just the meditative flow of creating art!
Let’s play some tunes together.
