Untrained and unpatterned

Victor from Russia was my neighbor when I moved into a beautiful neighborhood for a few months. He was eclectic.. I love seemingly chaotic, unpatterned people. And so was his music.. Improvised jazz.. Victor was an amazing painter too.. Painting large size paintings.

He built many musical instruments.. his house had dozens of them and he would literally play these instruments in an unpredictable pattern.. I started jamming with him.. I am untrained but I would often take to the keyboard.. he would change his instruments from saxophone to bells to djembe to flute…

He told me, “what you are doing is very hard… People are trained for years and it’s very hard for them to break free from their patterns. You’re naturally free”

I loved creating chaotic music with him… hours would go, his dogs and cats would roam around the house and I would have a crazy musical banter with this rebellious Russian man!
